Nathan Nesdoly in Concert
The Senior Choir of Dunbarton-Fairport is pleased to host Nathan Nesdoly, their former Director of Music, for an afternoon of words and music from his 2018 Songbook, featuring a performance of sixteen new songs.
Light refreshments will be served. A free-will donation for the event will be welcomed to benefit the music program at Dunbarton-Fairport and the Minister's Discretionary Fund.
Since Nathan retired from teaching in December of 2017, he has embarked on a compositional project of more than 20 acoustic songs for solo baritone and piano, all exploring an intimate relationship between original music and text.
Trained at the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario, Nathan spent his classroom career refining the use of music, visual art, drama and dance in the teaching of reading, writing and math. Now unleashed as a composer, Nathan's music is an accessible blend of classical, folk and musical theatre influences. The unity of his poetry and music make for a deeply personal, evocative artistic experience.
Nathan will be presenting eight individual songs introducing his style and aesthetic before presenting his song cycle Tree Monologues, which uses childhood memory and scientific facts about seven tree species of the southern boreal forest as the basis for a stunning platform exposing the intimate relationship between humans and our environment.
