The United Church Women will be hosting a speaker from the Back Door Mission, located in downtown Oshawa, this Wednesday, May 13th, at 1:00 p.m., in McKay Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Back Door Mission provides 150 lunches daily, and snacks are provided for anyone to take with them. Donations of drinking boxes, fruit cups, puddings, granola and breakfast bars, individually wrapped cookies, and small bags of chips for this program are greatly appreciated. The Mission also needs women’s and men’s socks, underwear, and toiletries. Please leave all donations in the bins in the narthex, clearly marked “Back Door Mission,” (so that they don’t get mixed up with the food bank donations.)
Don will be off next Sunday, May 17th. Ken Collins will be leading in worship.
The Worship Committee meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday morning, May 19th, at 11:00 a.m., in McKay Hall.
The Official Board meets on Tuesday evening, May 19th, at 7:00 p.m., in McKay Hall.
The Committee of Stewards meets on Monday morning, May 25th at 10:00 a.m.
Our spring Garage Sale, Barbecue, Bake Sale, and Home Party Event is being held on Saturday, June 13th, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., on the front lawn.
Please save spring cleaning items that are saleable, and bring them to the church on Friday evening, June 12th. This includes used books (not textbooks, travel books, or cookbooks), kitchen items, small furniture items, children's toys, or gardening items. All items should be clean and in reasonably good condition. No electrical appliances, please.
We need help for this event. This will include receiving items and sorting them on Friday, evening June 12th, and getting tables and chairs ready to go out on Saturday. On Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., we need a crew to move tables and chairs outside and get them set up and then bring everything out and on tables ready to go for 8:00 a.m. We need sellers from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. After 2:00 p.m., we need to pack any remaining items into boxes and delivered to various thrift stores, including Salvation Army and Value Village.
A signup sheet for this sale is in the sanctuary. This includes help and items to be donated for the barbecue. Flyers are available to post or hand out. Your help is truly appreciated!
